Characteristics of Flexible Learning 

Flexible learning is a principle of practice in formal education, concerned with increasing flexibility in the requirements, time and location of study, teaching, assessment and certification. 
Van Den Brande (1993) stated that flexible learning is enabling learners to learn when they want (frequence, timing, duration), how they want (model of learning) and what they want.



1.Flexible Content:
 In the picture about flexible content, the students can choose their course to be their interest. In science communication the students can choose their interest like jurnalistik, broadcasting, or public relation. So student can flexible to choose what content that their needs and want to be more focus. It is makes students can develope their skill in choosing the concentration.

2.Flexible Access: 
Flexible access is admitting students without a traditional aducational background or qualifications. 
In this picture students can access the information about dormitory, the activity of them from they leader and also students can get more experience, knowledge without seeing them from what their department and their faculty.
3.Recognition of Prior Learning:
Recognition of prior learning is the process of recognition of one's learning achievements achieved previously through formal, non-formal, informal education or training related to his work or carried out self-taught through his life experience
This is one of Examples of recognition of prior learning.This seminar is very good for students because by join this training  it’s really related to their work to Education ( academic ) this training named  lembaga pengembangan prestasi akademik (LP2A)


4.Flexible Participation: 
Flexible Participation is one of the learning methods that must be held for students either face-to-face or simultaneously, on demand.
The photo above was taken at UIN Suska Riau Dormitory. The picture was taken when the hostel tour activities. So it is adjusted to the request of its members. The activity is very open to participation for anyone.


5.Flexible teaching and learning Method:
flec is one of the characteristic of flexible learning that is delivery mode is set using a combination of the “requirements of the subject

and the needs of the individual learner.” This picture is the situation in the Curriculum and Course Design class in 5E of English Education Department of UIN Suska Riau.  The lecturer divided the students to the several groups to discuss and do the project. It includes of Teaching and Learning Method because this method require the metacognitive of the students. Metacognitive is how the students can comprehend,  analyze,  evaluate,  and create something that is appropriate with their ability


6.Flexible Resources: 
Flexible Resource is the access of students in University to get the materials or resources in learning process.  This is the library of UIN SUSKA RIAU. This is the exam ple of flexible Resources.  The library provides the Resources for students. In this library use OPAC to make the students be easy to find out the location of the books. The students can type the title of the book and the OPAC will show the location of the book

7. Flexible assessment: 
Flexible assessment is assessment that involves some kind of choice on the part on the student. For the example : Adiana is a student in religious proselty and communicative science (FDK) UIN Suska Riau. She is an announcer in suska fm. She is very bussy. One day her teacher ask her too make a live report in instagram as her individual task.


8. On Going Evaluation : 
Based on Going Evaluation In the picture we can see that thare is a on going evaluation, because the student meet with her supervisor tu get evaluation about her study. on going evaluation it is important to student and supervisor because with on going evaluation student can tell to the supervisor about her study, and supervisor can evaluate and give suggestion or motivation. and with on going evaluation each other can know what they need to develope the study of the student
